The Moksha Lecture Series presents:

Integrative Medicine & Amazonian Shamanism with

Dr. Joe Tafur, M.D.

Tuesday 7pm-11pm, May 27th, 2014

The Moksha Lecture Series is a multidisciplinary bi-monthly gathering that fosters idea sharing, dialog, and exploration of consciousness and our connection with the universe. We host speakers specializing in topics such as plant medicine, shamanism, spirituality, the natural sciences and social sciences. Since its inception in 2002, the Moksha Lecture Series has brought such renowned speakers as Dennis McKenna, Daniel Pinchbeck, Alex Grey, Miami’s own, prof. Manny Torres and many more.

Join us for a two-hour presentation on the modern practice of Ayahuasca Shamanism. The presentation will introduce Traditional Amazonian Plant Medicine, including the use of master plants and ayahuasca ceremony. Dr. Tafur will review the practice of traditional medicine at Nihue Rao Centro Espiritual, a shamanic healing center in the Peruvian Amazon, focusing primarily on his personal experiences with patients and visitors over the past few years. He will also demonstrate parallels between this work and modern advances in medical science in the fields of psychoneuroimmunology and epigenetics.
Later in the presentation, we will move to a question and answer format, encouraging exploration into this powerful medical tradition and the possibilities for integration.
